Introduction (Chinese):

(Birmingham Centre for Philosophy of Religion)與美國約翰.

Introduction (English):

"If God exists, why doesn't he reveal himself to everyone? Or perhaps, there is no God at all?" In 1993, the renowned atheist philosopher of religion J. L. Schellenberg published Divine Hiddenness and Human Reason, in which he provided a rigorous case for the "problem of divine hiddenness" that shook the international academic community. It quickly became a classic and successfully made the philosophical problem a new core academic issue. In 2023, with the sponsorship of the Birmingham Centre for Philosophy of Religion at the University of Birmingham and the John Templeton Foundation, the Chinese translation of the book was completed by Lok-Chi Chan from the Department of Philosophy at National Taiwan University and published by the National Taiwan University Press.

This conference is jointly organized by Asian Journal of Philosophy,  National Taiwan University's Center for Traditional and Scientific Metaphysics, and the National Taiwan University Press. It invites Ethnic Chinese philosophers of religion from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States to critically comment on the work and interact with the original author, J. L. Schellenberg.
